Annie Shreckhise, DPT

June 4, 2018 By Tobin Forbus

Annie Shreckhise

Annie is a native of Augusta County, graduating from Fort Defiance High School in 2011. Through local mentorship experiences and being a multi-sport athlete herself, Annie developed an interest in Physical Therapy. In 2015, she graduated as Valedictorian from Roanoke College with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology. She pursued further education in Physical Therapy and graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in May of 2018 from Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences in Fishersville, VA. During her clinical rotations she gained experience working with a variety of patient populations in outpatient orthopedics and skilled nursing facilities. Annie completed her final clinical rotation at Synergy Rehab and Wellness. She recognized the unique wholistic and personal care provided at this clinic and officially joined the Synergy team after graduation.
Annie has developed a passion for functional fitness and helping her patients maximize their potential in all facets of their lives. She plans to pursue continuing education for instructor training in PWR!Moves© to implement functional exercises that are adapted to meet the needs of individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. Annie also holds a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer Certificate and enjoys coaching functional fitness classes. In her free time, Annie enjoys spending time with family, hiking, running and doing CrossFit.

There are two major schools of outpatient PT treatment: Manual therapy vs. exercise focused care. Much of the pain and limitation you are experiencing is coming from changes to the joints and surrounding tissues that only doing exercises will not correct. Skilled manual therapy interventions can be the key to your quickest and most complete recovery.

Our therapists are each expertly trained manual therapists in a variety of different approaches including manipulation, mobilization, muscle energy, strain-counterstrain, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, myofascial release, instrumented soft tissue release, dry needling, Mulligan and McKenzie approaches among others. The breadth of training of our Doctors of Physical Therapy means that if one approach is not working, we have many more options to try. There is no “one trick pony” at Synergy. We are problem solvers who love to try a variety of approaches to resolve your pain and get you back to the life you want to live.

If you want to regain your health, it is not a passive path. You have to be proactive and determined that you will regain what you have given up for the sake of helping others, and it is your turn to focus on regaining the quality of life you deserve. We are your best advocates and want this for you as much as you want it for yourself. There is nothing that gives us more satisfaction than to help someone who is motivated and willing to work to change their lives for the better. You can do it! –and we can help!
